Why is this project important?

Residents and visitors will learn about the history of African Americans in the Sourland region and Hopewell Valley. 

School and community groups will have educational, cultural and community-building experiences. 

The identity and special character of the Sourland region will be enriched and expanded to include the “African American story.”

How can you help?

  • Display materials, frames, and signage.

  • Sculptures depicting African American life and culture.

  • Education and outreach materials.

  • Needed repairs and maintenance to building and grounds.

  • Insurance and utility costs.

  • Fees and costs associated with speakers, experts, consultants, and staff time.
